Consultant Learning is a new way of structuring a course that engages students and puts them in control of their own learning process. Consultant Learning encourages excellent quality work and is highly motivating to students. The Consultant Learning approach turns the classroom into a laboratory for the free enterprise system, using price as the allocation mechanism for grades earned.

Consultant Learning builds on Project-Based Learning (also called Problem-Based Learning or PBL) but gives the teacher a method of motivating students to want to do the projects and helps guide grading, work quality issues, and several other issues that are not considered by PBL. Some teachers have called Consultant Learning the implementation tool that PBL lacks.
